'Fill to the Top' Campaign Announced
July 27, 2012
HATTTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss Department of Athletics has unveiled the "Fill To The Top" campaign for its home season-opening football game, Sat., Sept. 15, against East Carolina. The mission of the campaign is to fill the stadium to capacity for the season's first home game. The "Fill To The Top" campaign has many different elements and layers, all with the goal of filling The Rock for the first home football game.
The first element of the "Fill To The Top" campaign began July 18 as athletic department staff and community leaders met to go over all of the details of this campaign. During this meeting, 10 teams were selected to go out throughout the state selling tickets to groups, organizations and businesses in the Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium upper decks for $10 apiece. Each team includes a team leader, an athletics department contact, and community leaders.
Each team has been given the task to sell 650 upper tickets with a minimum of 10 tickets per purchase. For every group, company, and or business that purchasing at least 10 of the upper deck tickets will receive a commemorative mini poster proclaiming "I helped The Rock Fill TO THE TOP!"
Of the 10 teams that were formed on July 18, three were based out of Hattiesburg as well as teams formed from Jackson, the Gulf Coast and Laurel.
"As we begin our celebration of 100 Years of Championships and Commencements, we wanted to start the year off right by filling The Rock to capacity," said Southern Miss Director of Athletics Jeff Hammond. "We cannot extend enough gratitude to the special and dedicated Southern Miss family members that have donated their time and resources to join us in this task to "Fill To The Top" for our home opener against East Carolina." The campaign has also enabled the engagement of Golden Eagle family members to be involved in the school's special celebration season.
"Volunteering for the FTTT campaign is something that I have loved being a part of as I have a passion for Southern Miss," said team leader Gregg Hess, a former Golden Eagle student-athlete. "The reception I have received so far has been incredible. The enthusiasm and excitement for 2012 is palpable and you can feel it throughout the community."
Beginning Aug. 1, the Southern Miss Athletic Ticket Office will also offer $10 upper deck to any fan wishing to purchase tickets for the East Carolina contest. There is no limit on the number of upper deck tickets purchased at this price.
