HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team will have a new look for the 2009 season with a total redesign of the team's Nike uniforms.
While the Golden Eagle's helmet will remain unchanged there will be three different jersey's (black, white and gold) that will be paired with three different pants (black, white and gold) giving Southern Miss nine different uniform combinations available for the upcoming season.
One of the most significant changes will be to the pants which will feature a stripe starting at the players hip and wrapping around the calf.
The new uniforms will be the first time that Southern Miss has had a major uniform change since the 2001 season.
The new Nike designed uniforms will offer the players a competitive advantage over previous years, using Nike compression technology for a more streamline fit.
Selected Southern Miss players will don the new jersey's for the first time Thursday night at the All-Star Party in Jackson.
