HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss Director of Athletics Jeff Hammond announced Thursday that the Southern Miss football team will play Southeastern Conference foe Arkansas during the 2013 season.
The game will take place on Sept. 14, at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Ark. This will be the first meeting between the two schools in the sport of football.
"We look forward to the challenge of going to Fayetteville in 2013 to face a strong Southeastern Conference opponent in the University of Arkansas," Hammond said. "Playing quality opponents it helps with our national exposure as well as a new regional rivalry that allows our fan base an opportunity to see their team play. We are not strangers to playing teams in the SEC and now we can add Arkansas to that long list."
This game adds to an already quality non-conference slate for that year. The Golden Eagles are set to play host to Nebraska on Sept. 7 and also travel to Boise State on Sept. 28.
