Five Players Tabbed Preseason All-C-USA by Phil Steele

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss had five players named to Phil Steele's Preseason All-Conference USA Football Team as announced on Tuesday. Linebacker Terrick Wright headlined the group, earning second team honors. In addition to Wright, Markese Triplett, Fredrick Moore and Adam Williams were each named to the third team, while Dylan Bradly claimed fourth team accolades.
Steele's Preseason All-C-USA Team will appear in the magazine, hitting newsstands Tuesday, June 24. Phil Steele's College Football Preview is the nation's most informative preseason football magazine and has always provided a Preseason All-American Team as well as Preseason All-Conference Teams.
This year Phil's Preseason All-American Team will be released Friday, June 6, exclusively through ESPN.
Wright, a redshirt junior linebacker, is the Golden Eagles' top returning tackler. Last season, he posted 90 tackles including 44 unassisted tackles. He had four tackles for loss. In addition, Wright intercepted a pass and was credited with a pair of pass breakups and a quarterback hurry. He also forced a fumble and had a fumble recovery to his credit.
Triplett, a redshirt senior wide receiver, finished second on the team in receptions last season, but notched a team-best 16.9 yards per reception average and 50.7 yards per game mark. Triplett finished the season with 33 receptions for a team-high 558 yards. He led the receiving corps with a team-high four touchdowns. In addition, Triplett notched the longest reception and longest play from scrimmage of the year with an 81-yard touchdown catch on the road against Marshall.
Moore, a senior offensive lineman, helped the Golden Eagle offense tally 2,911 passing yards last season. Southern Miss running backs amassed 1,075 combined yards behind Moore and the rest of the offensive line. In the season finale, Moore and the rest of the offensive line paved the way for Kendrick Hardy to rush for 106 yards - the first 100 yard performance of the season. In addition, he helped protect the pocket, allowing Nick Mullens to throw for 370 yards and a USM record five touchdowns in the 62-27 win over UAB.
Williams, a redshirt senior defensive lineman, played in all 12 games for the Golden Eagles last season, making six starts. He finished the year with 40 tackles (19 solo) with 8.5 tackles for loss and a team-best three sacks. Williams forced a fumble and also had a quarterback hurry.
Bradly, a redshirt sophomore defensive lineman, played in 11 games, making on start in his first season of action. He recorded 52 tackles (24 solo), including 4.5 tackles for loss. Bradley was credited with two quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery.
Southern Miss opens up the 2014 football campaign on Saturday, Aug. 30 as the Golden Eagles travel to Starkville for a game with in-state rival Mississippi State. The game is slated for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff and will be aired on the SEC Network.
