HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Micah Pellerin, a football student-athlete at the University of Southern Mississippi, has been selected to represent the school at the 2009 National Student-Athlete Development Conference in Orlando, Fla., next month.

"This is a great opportunity for Micah," said Jason Gray, Southern Miss Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student Services. "He should be able to take what he experienced from the conference and grow into a student leadership role here at Southern Miss. This will also be able to help him develop into a successful individual following graduation and well into his adult life."

The conference will take place May 24-27 at the Walt Disney World Coronado Spring Resort and the four-day conference will consist of daily color team exercises, speakers and activities to help the student-athlete attendees develop as individuals and contributing members to society.

The 2009 conference theme is "A Journey of Self-Discovery: Unfold Your Future" and will focus on self exploration, foundation building, skill application and interactive training conducted in conjunction with the U.S. Army.

Pellerin, a rising redshirt sophomore from New Orleans, La., appeared in 11 games last season and collected five total tackles, while also registering one forced fumble and one recovery.
