Southern Miss Holds Final Practice Before Spring Game
April 18, 2013
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss held its 14th and final practice before Saturday's Spring Game, Thursday afternoon under overcast skies at Joe P. Park Practice Facility.
Coach Todd Monken made it a light practice with it being the final one, as both coaches and players are looking towards Saturday.
"Once you get to this point in the spring, you put the players in shorts," said Monken. "So it was normal that it wasn't the same kind of detail. But the energy was still good. More than anything, the guys are looking forward to Saturday."
Monken believes that the Spring Game will be a great conclusion to spring practice despite not playing at The Rock.
"We feel good about it," said Monken. "We're not real deep. But we're going to give it a go. It'll be different because we're not in our stadium. But it's going to be fun for our guys."
Southern Miss will be back on the field Thursday afternoon for its 11th practice of the spring. Practices are open to the public but require a valid ID to gain access. Phones, cameras and notepads are prohibited during the session.
