Southern Miss announces 2018 Eagle Fest weekend slate

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss athletics department has unveiled its 2018 Eagle Fest weekend schedule (April 19-21), featuring several events for fans of all ages, including everything from the annual Black and Gold Spring Football game, Champions Brunch, youth football clinic and a home baseball series.

The annual pre-spring game youth clinic returns from 10-11 a.m. inside The Rock and is open and free to all kids through eighth grade. Parents will be asked to sign their registration forms at the check-in table starting at 9 a.m. Participants will get to go through various football drills and activities with coaching from Southern Miss football players."

This year's Champions Brunch will serve as a tribute to John Cox and his 40 years as the "Voice of the Golden Eagles." It will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. inside the Touchdown Club and include Rick Cleveland, Hill Denson, William Lewis and Jeff Bower as panelists. They will share stories and recall great moments from John's career as we celebrate this milestone as he prepares for his next decade as the Voice. Eagle Club members will have priority access until March 30 before tickets go on sale to the general public. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased by contacting the ticket office at 1-800-844-TICK. The football team will have its annual spring game at 12 p.m. inside The Rock that Saturday with free admission. Former coaches Jim Carmody (1982-87) and Curley Hallman (1988-90) will serve as honorary coaches for the Black and Gold teams. Fans can then head over to The Pete to catch the No. 15 Southern Miss baseball team take on Middle Tennessee. That game will also serve as Letterwinners Day, where each former baseball player can receive up to four complimentary tickets and take part in pregame recognition.

Sunday's baseball game (1 p.m. start) features free sunglasses for the first 150 fans.
