Chris Clark Set to Play in Super Bowl XLVIII for Denver Broncos
Jan. 31, 2014
HATTIESBURG Miss. - Former Southern Miss offensive lineman Chris Clark will start on the offensive side of the ball for the American Football Conference champion Denver Broncos this Sunday in Super Bowl XLVIII.
Clark, who played for the Golden Eagles from 2004-07, has played in every game for the Broncos in each of the last three seasons, after being signed by the club just prior to the 2010 season. Clark becomes the 12th former Golden Eagle to appear on a National Football League Super Bowl roster this weekend.
Former Southern Miss punter Jerrel Wilson was the first Golden Eagle to play in the big game for the Kansas City Chiefs, appearing in Super Bowl I.
Other than Wilson, former Golden Eagles Michael Boley, Bud Brown, Brett Favre, Ray Guy, Bobby Hamilton, Jeremy Parquet, Todd Pinkston, Etric Pruitt, Adalius Thomas and Sammy Winder all were a part of the championship game in the National Football League.
Five of those players, Favre, Guy, Hamilton, Wilson and Winder, have played in multiple Super Bowls. Guy and Winder each played in three Super Bowls marking the most appearances by a former Southern Miss player.
Golden Eagle alumni have compiled a 9-9 record in the contest.
The game is slated to take place Sunday evening at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Kickoff is slated for 5:25 p.m., CT.
