The success of the 2011 Southern Miss football team brought great exposure to the program, its athletics department and the University as a whole.
One exciting piece of that exposure came with a couple of inside looks into the program. The first happened prior to the season and then during the campaign as cameras captured the action both on and off the practice and game fields for the Golden Eagles.
Prior to the season, Fox Sports South produced a 30-minute program about the Southern Miss athletics program as well as the football team. That footage also made its way on several of the networks' different shows regarding college football.
Also, CBS Sports followed the Golden Eagles for three straight weeks starting with the UTEP contest and gave fans an inside look to what goes on during game week with the program. This fascinating and in-depth 30-minute program was shown on the CBS Sports Network.
In addition, the Golden Eagles played on either regional or national television 13 times of the team's 14 games during the 2011 campaign, including its first appearance on ABC in its 49-28 Conference USA title victory over Houston since 2004. That 2004 meeting came at Nebraska with Southern Miss capturing a 21-17 triumph in that contest.
