HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Former Southern Miss defensive lineman Khyri Thornton will play in the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) Collegiate Bowl this Saturday at the StubHub Center in Carson City, Calif.
Game time is set for 5 p.m., CT and can be seen nationally on ESPN 2. Thornton will play for the Nationals squad under legendary former NFL coach Dick Vermeil.
The Panama City, Fla., native garnered second-team All-Conference USA honors this past season and was a finalist for the Conerly Trophy which is given to the state's top collegiate player. Thornton, a four-year letter winner at Southern Miss, tallied 39 tackles during his senior campaign with 6.5 tackles for loss.
This will be the second time a Golden Eagle has participated in the third installment of this contest this weekend. Former offensive lineman Darius Barnes played in the 2012 contest.
