Southern Miss Head Coach Larry Fedora
Opening statement...
"The defense came out ready to play today. If you take away the trash touchdown at the end, and the one the offense gave them at their three or four yard line, that is 14 points they scored and that's the best offense in the country. They are a good football team, and there is no doubt about it. We were the better team today and that's the way it has to be. The day you play, is the day where you have to be better than the opponent. For us to win our 11th game, which is the first time in the history of our school, 99 years of playing football, that says a lot about this team. I can't say enough about the 21 seniors on this football team, the goals they set for this team and the way they lead this football team on the field. Offensively we did a good job, and we did what he had to do on our special teams. We made a game changing play and that was the key to the whole game."

On defensive game plan...
"The keys to victory for our defensive were going to be first, handling the tempo. I thought we did a great job of that and stopping the run. Our second key was rushing the quarterback, either by rush or by coverage. He (Case Keenum) looked uncomfortable all day. I can't say enough about the pressure that the defensive line was able to get and the secondary being able to disguise coverages.

On Furious Bradley blocked punt...
"Furious is a warrior, he has the heart of a lion. We called the fake punt and he never hesitated. He went out there and did it just like we asked him to in practice, and obviously scored. We said going into this game that our special teams have to make one game changing play. That punt return team has been special all year, not because of one individual, but because they all believe they can get it done.

On being underestimated...
"Nobody gave us a chance, nobody thought we could win. Last night we were coming back from the movie and we were on the bus watching the MAC Championship. There was a commercial that ran down the conference championship games and the last one was the Conference USA Championship and then they talked about Houston and they never even mentioned us, they never mentioned who Houston was playing. Everybody thought Houston was going to walk away with this thing and our guys took objection to that. They had something to prove, they are going to play with a chip on their shoulder, and they wanted everybody to know that this is a good football team.

On the conference potentially losing BCS status...
"We didn't cost this conference any money, because we ought to be in a BCS bowl. Houston is not going, we ought to be going and then everybody will get their money like they want."

On connection with A&M job...
"First of all I'm said to see what happened to coach Sherman and his coaching staff and their families. To be honest with you, all I've been focused on is winning the game today. We talked about not paying attention to things that were going on outside of our football team. Anything that had something to do with something other than winning was not worth thinking about. So that's the way this team did it, that's the way the seniors did it and that's the way the coaching staff did it."

On expectations entering the game...
"I'm going to be honest with you, our guys expected to win a football game today. There is not a game that I've been involved in at southern miss where our guys didn't expect to win. We brought 66 guys and every one of the expected to win today. No doubt about it. I really think we should have had the game won and out of reach earlier, but we put the ball on the ground."

Quarterback Austin Davis
On if there was added motivation playing against Case Keenum...
"Not really. That's the way the media tried to make it all week; about me and him. Really this was about winning a conference championship for Southern Miss. He'll tell you the same thing. It wasn't about me versus him; it was about me wanting to win a championship with my teammates. It's been five years that I've wanted to do this. I just took it as a regular week."

Running Back Tracey Lampley
On xx...
"First of all I want to give thanks to God for putting us in the situation we were in today. We did a good job as a team. Coach called plays and we went out and did what needed to be done."

Defensive Back Furious Bradley
On his big play...
"Coach felt like he wanted to call that play so I went out and did my job. He said we needed a big play on special teams so I just went out and didn't what I needed to do.

On if he was shocked to score the touchdown...
"No ma'am. I wasn't shocked at all. The opportunity came so I took advantage of it."

Linebacker Ronnie Thornton
On The defensive play...
"We wanted to get after the quarterback pretty well. We knew that we would have to move around. We couldn't just sit there like robots like we had done in previous games. We wanted to move around and try to show different calls and give them different looks. Obviously it helped us a lot. We wanted to be the most physical team on the field, and we were that today."

On his emotions going out champions as seniors...
"It's a great feeling to be a part of this team. We set goals at the beginning of the season to win a conference championship. That's something we've done the past four years. To accomplish those goals this year feels great. Words can't describe how I'm feeling right now. Before the season the seniors got together and we wanted to make the year something we could remember."

On the play of the front four...
"We knew coming into the game, our front four had to win the one-on-one battles. We couldn't just give Case Keenum the time to just sit back and play dink and dunk with his receivers. Our front four dominated the game. That helped us a lot. For the most part we covered the rest of the defense and let the front four get after it. That benefited us pretty well."

Houston Head Coach Kevin Sumlin
Opening Statement...
"It was a very tough locker room after the game. In general I told our guys to take a look around and congratulate and appreciate the senior class, who played their last game in Robertson Stadium. The seniors have set a bar that hasn't been reached and also passed milestones that have never been passed here at UH. The challenge to the younger guys is to appreciate this year, but use it as motivation in the off-season. We are guaranteed one more game, and look at it as a way to further develop the younger players. We are forever indebted to the seniors for this season. We didn't finish they way we wanted but there were still a lot of positives."

On how the whole complexion of the game changed...
"We were a little off early but we've been like that before and have survived. For the most part we've been consistent all year but we had some missed opportunities. When we were down a touchdown at halftime, we still had an opportunity. Southern Miss was well prepared and did an excellent job."

On the pressure Southern Miss put on them...
"We've seen pressure like this before. We've had a couple of teams (pressure us) but we've been able to 'weather the storm' When the score is close, it becomes a different game, but when you go down a couple of touchdowns then it becomes a factor. We didn't play very well at the beginning and our defense was keeping us in the game, but once the score separation got bigger it became a one dimensional game and that played into their hands."

On the defense not being able to stop Southern Miss...
"The story is that the last five to six week, we haven't given up the big play. Some of the decisions that were made were based on how our defense played. We held up pretty well in the first half but we did give up some uncharacteristic plays."

Quarterback Case Keenum
On emotions after the game...
"It was very devastating. I've been in this position twice now and it's not fun, and I told that to the younger guys. You've got to give credit to Southern Miss. They came in here to a hostile environment; that's as hostile as I've ever seen Robertson Stadium. Our fans did an incredible job. For them to come out and play in that kind of environment, you've got to hand it to them. They came to play. They're a heck of a football team, and they just beat us today."

On the Houston offense having trouble finding rhythm...
"We obviously weren't as successful as we normally are. When a defense is able to stop the run on key plays like they did, that takes an offense out of their game. We had a good game plan we just didn't execute when we needed to."

On the wind as a factor on the offense...
"For us offensively, I don't think it effected us a lot. It may have effected us a little bit. I grew up where that would be (considered) a light breeze so I would like to think that it didn't effect me."

On problems with the Houston offense...
"They did a good job. They had a good scheme. We had a few things here and there but we've been able to correct those in the past. We just weren't able to do that today when we needed to. It all comes down to certain big plays that even though they may not seem like big plays they are game changers."

Wide Receiver Justin Johnson
On the wind as a factor on the offense...
"Like Case (Keenum) said, probably a little bit but we're not here to make excuses about the wind or anything else. Southern Miss came out and made plays today and unfortunately we didn't. All the records and everything during the season comes down to one game."

On emotions after the game...
"It's a disappointment but we've got one more game to play. We don't know where that's going to be, but we're going to regroup and move forward. There is a bright future here at the University of Houston, and the young guys are ready for that."

On problems with the Houston offense...
"The game of football comes down to inches. We missed a couple that could have changed the momentum, but we're not up here to make excuses. They had an excellent game plan and they executed. It was very frustrating to not be able to put plays together as an offense because that's what we do. We make plays. We definitely didn't help ourselves out there at times with some untimely drops."

Linebacker Marcus McGraw
On the Southern Miss offense in the second half...
"They have some great running backs. It was a hard time when we got caught in the wrong defense on third down or a play like that. That was just a good play call on their part. For the most part we missed out on a lot of opportunities when it came to the running game."

On emotions after the game...
"We had a great season. We didn't finish the way we wanted to, but when you look at all we've done we've had a great season. We set the bar high for the younger guys and for people coming into this program. It's disappointing but there's always an upside to it."
