Head Coach Todd Monken
Overall Statement...
"We obviously didn't do enough good things today to give ourselves a chance. From missing tackles, to dropping footballs and not being as physical up front. Obviously, the turnovers hurt us. We ended up fumbling the ball a number of times, and that hasn't been something we've been doing lately. But, the bottom line is, we've got to play better football. Regardless of who takes the field, we need to make it look like how we want it to look like. That starts with me and the coaching staff. Our kids have continued to work. They have continued to fight. But, we've got to find a way to do it better, to coach it better and to execute it better. Otherwise, the result is going to continue to be the same. It always comes back to the same things: playing good football, taking care of the football and playing hard. Our guys have played hard and fought. But we haven't taken care of the other two areas, and that's when you don't give yourself a chance to be successful."

On the number of dropped passes...
"The last three weeks that has been an issue. Obviously, we're not doing a good enough job during the week. We've tried to find different guys to play in there because obviously the number one thing we have to do is catch the ball.

On Florida Atlantic's running game...
"They run hard. On offense, their backs and quarterbacks will force you into missed tackles. They'll test your manhood. How much you really want to take that on. At times, I thought we didn't do as good a job as we needed to. We allowed the ball to go downhill. When you allow the ball to go downhill, you're going to get gauged. We've got to do a better job there."

On the offensive line...
"We were without Fred (Moore) today, so we had to patch that up. (Florida Atlantic) is good up front. We knew, defensively, that they were as good as anyone we have played. We knew that it would be a challenge for us. What we couldn't do early, which has been a problem for us, is stay in the game. Where a two, three, four-yard run is acceptable to keep us in front of the chains, which we couldn't do."

Dasman McCullum
On pressure he was able to get...
"(It was) just the right play calling and me being quicker than the tackle, which helped me make it into the backfield a lot."

How tough was it to stop the FAU run attack...
We were in the right places, guys were missing their assignments and missing tackles, which were broken off for a lot of runs."

What's it like playing on a defense that faces so many injuries...
"It's depressing. We've got a lot of injuries ... We have to have young guys step up, which they have stepped up, and just go out there and make plays and play hard."

What does it feel like when you tackle somebody in the back field...
"It feels great making a big tackle and getting the sideline hyped and the crowd hyped."

Coach Monken's message to team after the game...
"It was simple, very simple. When you turn the ball over, you miss tackles, you're not going to get the results you want. The result we wanted didn't come to us. We just have to make the corrections tomorrow and keep working hard."

Nick Mullens
On pressure FAU was able to get...
"It was certainly a challenge but as a quarterback you can't worry about the pressure. You have to stay poised and focus on your reads. That's what I did today, tried to make good decisions and focus on playing well for my team."

How frustrating is it to face turnovers and dropped passes...
"You can't worry about it, really. You go week to week and take it step by step. Certainly it's frustrating. As a team we can collectively get better. It's just a growing process. We've got to get better and execute better each week. It's all about improvement."

Was the overall energy the same this week...
"Saturday's pay day so every day we enjoy it, we love it. The energy was there as a team. As coach says, `Body language and effort.' On the sidelines, we had it. Early, we had a chance to make it a game but the offense didn't score ... We had our chance, just didn't capitalize. The energy's there. It's not a chemistry problem. The team has grit and determination. We're not going to back down from that. It's just a matter of execution now."

Interim Head Coach Brian Wright
On quick start...
"The (game plan) today was to run the football and our guys up front did a great job. They led the way. Our backs did a great job of taking care of the football. When we do that, we have a great shot at success."

On success running the ball...
"We just told those guys take care of the ball, make one cut and then go north. Our guys did a great job with that today and the guys up front really did a great job for us."

On moving forward...
"This one was huge, just to come out and play the way we did. We were concerned about this football team because they kept battling. Their coaching staff keeps preparing them. I told the guys, "This is chapter two of the story that we are writing. We have to worry about chapter three now." With New Mexico State coming in, I know they played Boston College really well. We will have to come out and play really good football to come out and win."

On scoring early...
"We practiced for two weeks that we were going to come out, up tempo. Our guys did a great job in practicing it and did a great job in coming out and executing it. It was huge for us. We wanted a fast start. We were going to do that with tempo just to get our guys moving with the travel and everything, including an early game. Our guys executed well and did a really good job."

On "auditioning" for the head coaching job...
"I have said it before, I have been auditioning for 18 years. My concern is the coaches and the players and our football family here and winning the next game."

On the play of the defense...
"We told the team that the turnover margin is critical. It is the one key stat in college football. I think we had a 3-to-0 turnover ratio at halftime and that gave us a great opportunity."

On the fake field goal...
"I have been itching to do that for two weeks - to fake one. We have been looking for it and I thought it was the right opportunity. I told the guys, "We are going to play aggressive. We are going to play to win. So whatever I think we need to call or run to win, we are going to do it."
