HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Black squad accumulated 327 total yards of offense, while holding the Gold Team to just 179 yards, as it dominated the Gold squad, 29-3, in Southern Miss' annual spring football game, Saturday afternoon at Petal High School.
"Our guys were excited," said head coach Todd Monken. "With 15 practices, you're just trying to get to where you play good football. That's really what you're trying to do. Get the guys to play hard and understand assignments and alignment. That's really what you're trying to accomplish."
Cole Weeks and Kyle Sloter each played for both teams. Weeks connected on 26-of-41 for 310 yards and an interception, while Sloter was 13-of-23 for 161 yards. He also connected with Rickey Bradley on a 21-yard touchdown.
Bradley caught seven passes for 130 yards. Dillon Fedora also had four catches for 65 yards. Francisco Llanos and Dimitri Smith each caught six passes for the Gold Team, with Llanos going for 77 yards and Smith for 63.
The teams played to contact, with no tackling. Michael Smith recorded 5.5 sacks for the Black squad.
