Position:
Graduate Assistant Coach/Offensive Line

Experience:
Third Season

Josh Eargle, who served as the offensive graduate assistant coach from 2003-04, returns on the Golden Eagle coaching staff as the assistant offensive line coach.

He returns to Southern Miss from Ouachita Baptist, where he served the past year as the offensive line coach and the recruiting coordinator. Last season, the offense averaged 349 yards of total offense per game, and 23.8 points per game.

In his two years as the graduate assistant at Southern Miss, he assisted with the offensive line and coached with the defensive scout team. He also assisted the coaching staff with player game evaluations and scouting of opponents.

A three-year letterman for the University of Memphis, Eargle started games in both his junior and senior seasons, but was hampered by a severely torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee. Despite that injury, he earned the respect of his teammates and coaches and won the "Top Tiger Award" at Memphis' annual senior banquet.

A native of Brownwood, Texas, Eargle lettered two years at Brownwood High School before transferring to play at Sulphur Springs High School for his uncle, Head Coach Chuck King. Eargle was named to the Texas Sportswriters 4A All-State team in 1996.

Among other honors, he was named Defensive Player of the Year in District 15-4A and to the All-District 15-4A team as a defensive tackle.

The 2001 Memphis graduate, with a degree in exercise and sports science, spent a year as a pharmaceutical sale specialist in Memphis, Tenn., before arriving at Southern Miss in 2003. He completed his master's degree in sport administration from Southern Miss in 2004.

Eargle is married to the former Kristen Jolley. She is a graduate of Memphis with a degree in public relations.
