Antonescu joins the Southern Miss coaching staff after a stint with Alcorn State as a tight ends coach. He will serve as a graduate assistant coach for the offensive line.

Antonescu finished his playing career at Mississippi College in 2014. Before his stint with the Choctaws, he played for Coach Justin Fuente and Coach Larry Porter at the University of Memphis. In 2012, played in 10 games, starting six at center. In 2011, played in nine games, making five starts including four games at center and one at left guard. He was named Offensive Lineman of the Week against Middle Tennessee State.

Before Memphis, he played for Coach Danny Robertson at Holmes Community College in 2009. He earned preseason All-American and preseason All-State distinction before transferring to Memphis. He earned All-State Honorable Mention honors after the 2009 season. He was invited to play in the California vs. The Nation JUCO All-Star game. He allowed only 0.5 sacks in seven starts in 2009.
