Southern Miss Returns to the Court to Face Dillard
Golden Eagles look to snap two-game losing streak.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's basketball team will attempt to get back on track on Wednesday night, Dec. 30, when it faces Dillard. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT at Reed Green Coliseum.
This will be the first ever meeting between Southern Miss and Dillard.
Southern Miss is coming off a 1-2 showing at the South Mississippi Christmas Classic. In the final game, the Golden Eagles fell to North Florida, 53-46.
Junior forward Gary Flowers led the way for the Golden Eagles, scoring 20 points while grabbing 12 rebounds for his fifth consecutive double-double. Junior guard R.L. Horton added nine points and five rebounds.
Flowers is eighth in Conference USA with 15.1 points. He is 10th in field goal percentage, connecting on 51.5-percent of his shots, third in rebounding with 9.3 boards per game and fourth in blocks (2.2).
Bolden is second on the team with 12.5 points per game and 7.3 rebounds, good for eighth in the conference. He is also ninth in the league in free throw percentage, hitting 81.4-percent from the line. Sophomore guard Angelo Johnson and junior guard R.L. Horton are also contributing 9.5 points apiece.
As a team, Southern Miss is scoring 70.7 points per game, while allowing 60.7. The Golden Eagles are second in the conference in rebounding, pulling down 40.8 boards per game, while giving up just 31.3 to the opposition. The Black and Gold are connecting on 44.3-percent of their shots, while the opposition is hitting just 38.9-percent.
Head coach Larry Eustachy is in his sixth season at the helm of the Southern Miss men's basketball program. He has compiled an 83-83 (.500) record during his time as head coach. In 18 years, Eustachy has an overall record of 343-228 (.601).
Dillard enters Wednesday night's contest with a 2-4 record. The Blue Devils have won two of their last three games after defeating Life University, 82-70, on the 18th.
Sophomore forward Mico Sjekloca led the Blue Devils with his second double-double, scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard James Burkes had 18 points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Avry Ingram scored 13 points and four steals, while senior guard DeCarlos Riley added 11 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Burkes leads the team with 15.2 points while pulling down 4.8 rebounds. Sjekloca is scoring 12.2 points and grabbing a team-high 5.7 boards, while Riley is adding 10.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists.
As a team, the DU is averaging 74.3 points per game while allowing 80.5. Dillard is grabbing 30.8 rebounds per game, while giving up 46.7. The Blue Devils are connecting on just 40.6-percent of its shots, while the opposition scores 46.5-percent of the time.
Head coach Dale Brown is in his second season leading the Dillard men's basketball program. He currently holds a 14-22 (.389) record.
