HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's basketball team will continue its road swing this Saturday, Dec. 22, when it travels to Wichita, Kan., to face Wichita State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT

Southern Miss comes into tonight's game with an 8-3 record. The Golden Eagles are coming off a 69-67 come-from-behind victory at Georgia State on Tuesday.

Junior guard Jerrold Brooks led the Golden Eagles with a career-high 23 points, including four three-pointers. Senior guard Dwayne Davis added 12 points and five rebounds and senior forward Jonathan Mills grabbed a game-high nine boards.

Davis is leading the team with 13.9 points while pulling down 5.0 rebounds. He is also sixth in Conference USA in free throw percentage, connecting on 85.7-pecent from the charity stripe. Junior forward Michael Craig is adding 10.8 points and 5.9 rebounds. He is also connecting on 56.0-percent from the floor, which is fourth in the league while averaging 1.8 steals per game, good for fifth in the conference. Mills is scoring 9.8 points and grabbing a team-high 7.2 boards a game and Brooks is scoring 9.2 points per game.

Southern Miss is scoring 66.0 points per game but allowing just 59.3 which is second Conference USA. The Golden Eagles are shooting 45.6-percent from the floor and allowing its opponents to just 38.9-percent, which leads the league. The Golden Eagles are connecting on just 31.7-percent from three-point range, but allowing just 30.4% from the same distance, tops in C-USA. Southern Miss is also outrebounding its opponents, 34.5-to-28.4. The Golden Eagles are also second in the league in steals (9.8).

Head coach Donnie Tyndall is in his first season at the helm of the Southern Miss men's basketball program. Tyndall is 8-3 (.727) as head coach of the Golden Eagles. He has compiled a 122-88 (.581) record in seven years as a head coach.

Wichita State enters tonight's game with a 10-1 record. The Shockers are coming off a 65-53 victory over Charleston Southern Thursday night.

Junior forward Cleanthony Early led WSU with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Junior guard Nick Wiggins scored 10 points and junior forward Chadrack Lufile added 12 boards.

Senior forward Carl Hall, who leads Wichita State with 13.9 points per game and 7.6 rebounds, is out with a broken right thumb. Early is the only other player in double-figures, scoring 13.4 points. He is also second on the team with 5.6 rebounds.

As a team, the Shockers are scoring 71.4 points per game while allowing 59.2. Wichita State is connecting on 45.6% from the field, while the opposition is connecting on just 38.6%. From three-point distance, WSU is connecting on 31.9% and is allowing just 29.7%. The Shockers are outrebounding their opponents 38.4-to-30.6.

Head coach Gregg Marshall is in his sixth season at the helm of the Wichita State men's basketball program. Marshall is 119-62 (.623) as head coach of the Shockers. He has compiled a 313-146 (.682) record in 15 years as a head coach.
