HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Fresh off its victory over in-state rival Ole Miss, the Southern Miss men's basketball team will travel to Tempe, Ariz., to face Arizona State this Monday, December 19. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. CT and will be shown on Fox Sports Net.

The meeting will be the first in the school's history.

Southern Miss enters Monday night's contest with an 8-2 record. The Golden Eagles are coming off an 86-82 victory over in-state rival Ole Miss.

Angelo Johnson led the Golden Eagles with 23 points and four assists. Neil Watson recorded his first career double-double with 18 points and 11 assists. Jonathan Mills scored 14 points and had a team-high seven rebounds while Torye Pelham had 11 points and five rebounds. LaShay Page added 10 points.

Page leads the Black and Gold with 14.8 points, good for ninth-place in Conference USA. He is second in the league in three-pointers made (3.0) and is fourth in three-point field goal percentage (.395).

Johnson is second on the team with 13.5 points. He is also sixth in the league in assists (3.7) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.8). Maurice Bolden is scoring 12.3 points while grabbing a team-leading 6.7 rebounds. He is also sixth in the league with 1.7 blocks per game. Watson is adding 11.4 points while connecting on 92.2% of his free throws, good for second in C-USA and 11th in the country (through 12/12).

As a team, Southern Miss is scoring 75.1 points and allowing just 65.1. The Golden Eagles are hitting 43.6-percent of their shots and 40.4% of their three-pointers, which leads Conference USA. Their opposition is connecting on 43.1% from the field and 38.7-percent from behind the arc. The Golden Eagles hold the advantage on the boards, as they are outrebounding their opponents 36.4-to-31.3, a difference of 5.1 per game. The Golden Eagles are also leading the league and are fourth in the NCAA (through 12/12) in free throw percentage (.793).

Head coach Larry Eustachy is in his eighth season at the helm of the Southern Miss men's basketball program. He has compiled a 125-106 (.541) record during his time as head coach. In 21 years, Eustachy has an overall record of 385-251 (.605).

Arizona State comes into Monday's game with a 4-6 record after falling to Northern Arizona, 69-68, Saturday night.

ASU was led by sophomore guard Keala King with 16 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Sophomore forward Chanse Creekmur scored 15 points and junior guard Trent Lockett added 10 points and five rebounds.

The Sun Devils are led by Lockett with a team-leading 13.8 points. He is also fifth in the Pac-12 with 7.5 rebounds per game. King is second on the team with 13.2 and leads the team with 3.1 assists. Junior guard Carrick Felix is averaging 11.8 points, while sophomore forward Kyle Cain is adding 8.9 points and 7.8 rebounds, good for third-place in the Pac-12.

As a team, Arizona State is scoring 65.7 points per game while allowing 65.2. The Sun Devils are shooting 46.3-percent from the floor while holding their opponents to just 39.3-percent. ASU is pulling down 36.1 boards per game, while allowing just 31.3, third in the Pac-12. Ole Miss is connecting on 34.4-percent of its three-point attempts while its opposition is hitting 37.8%.

Head coach Herb Sendek is in his sixth season at the helm of the Arizona State men's basketball program. He has compiled a 92-81 (.532) record during his tenure as head coach. In 19 seasons overall, Sendek is 346-239 (.591).
