Men's Basketball Seeks to Get Back to Winning Ways against Blue Mountain

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss (2-2), looks to bounce back from is heartbreaking loss at Alabama, when they host NAIA's Blue Mountain (0-7), Thursday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. inside Reed Green Coliseum.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools

The Golden Eagles are led by guard Jeremy Wise. The sophomore leads the team in scoring with 19.8 points per game. Right behind him is junior Courtney Beasley with 11.5, and freshman R.L. Horton finishes the trio in double-digits at 11.0. Gjio Bain leads Southern Miss on the boards, pulling down 10.3 rebounds a game.

Southern Miss is coming off a 79-77 loss at the hands of Alabama. Wise led the Golden Eagles with a career-high 33 points, while freshman R.L. Horton put in a season-high 22. Gjio Bain added 12 rebounds.

Blue Mountain enters Thursday's contest looking for its first victory, having lost its first seven games of the year. The Toppers are led by forward Kenny Whitis. The junior currently leads the team with 19.7 points per game. Sophomore forward Brad Pressley is averaging 14.8 points while leading the team with 5.5 rebounds.

Blue Mountain is coming off a 105-96 defeat at the hands of Williams Baptist. Against the Eagles, Jon Estes led BMC with 19 points and seven rebounds. Pressley added 17 points and seven boards, while Ryan Seymour and Whitis dropped in 16 and 15, respectively.

The Golden Eagles go back on the road next Wednesday when they travel to Mobile to face South Alabama. This will be the 33rd meeting between the two schools, with the Golden Eagles holding a 19-13 advantage. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. CT at the Mitchell Center.
