HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss junior guard Jeremy Wise garnered all-tournament honors at the Paradise Jam, which finished Monday in the Virgin Islands.
Wise averaged 20.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.3 steals as the Golden Eagles (4-1) won two games in the tournament. After dropping a 70-60 decision to No. 16 Miami (Fla.) in the opener, Southern Miss used second-half comebacks to beat LaSalle, 76-72, in overtime and Iona, 64-63, to capture fourth-place in the event.
Connecticut's Hasheem Thabeet was named the tournament Most Valuable Player while fellow Huskies Jerome Dyson and Kemba Walker made the team, along with Jack McClinton of Miami and Trevon Hughes of Wisconsin.
