Men's Basketball Looks to Bounce Back against William Carey

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss, coming off a tough loss at Cal, looks to get back on track when they face cross-town rival William Carey in Game Two of a doubleheader Tuesday night. The Golden Eagles face WCC at 8:30 p.m. at Reed Green Coliseum after the women's team takes on Louisiana-Monroe at 6:00 p.m.

This will be the fourth meeting between the two schools. Southern Miss has won the previous three games.

Southern Miss is coming off a 67-59 defeat at the hands of Cal. Courtney Beasley led the Golden Eagles with 13 points, and Sai'Quon Stone added 12. Gjio Bain scored eight points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

William Carey enters Tuesday's contest 2-1 on the year. The Crusaders are coming off a 72-67 victory over NAIA's fourth ranked Faulkner. WCC is led by guard Kyle Lamonte. The senior is averaging 18.7 points per game and 4.0 rebounds. Senior forward Jeremy Holder is averaging 12.0 points while leading the team with 6.3 rebounds.

Against Faulkner, LaMonte led the Crusaders with 18 points. Dexter Middleton added 16 points. Holder and Derek Jarvis added 11 points each.

Following Tuesday's contest, Southern Miss will head back on the road when they face SEC Opponent Alabama, Friday, November 23. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. (CT).
