HATTIESBURG, Miss. - After reaching the Conference USA championship game for the first time in school history, Southern Miss earned a one-seed in this year's National Invitation Tournament.
The Golden Eagles will host eighth-seed Charleston Southern, the Big South regular season champion, this Wednesday, Mar. 20 at 8:15 p.m. CT.
If USM were to defeat the Buccaneers, it would face the winner of No. 4 Florida State (18-15) and No. 5 Louisiana Tech (26-6).
This will be Southern Miss' ninth NIT appearance, and the first since 2001. The Golden Eagles have a 6-7 record all-time in the NIT. It is also just the fourth time that Southern Miss will host a postseason game.
This will be the first-ever meeting between Southern Miss and Charleston Southern.
CSU comes into the tournament having won three of its last four games. The Buccaneers fell in the Championship Game of the Big South Tournament, 87-76, to Liberty.
Tickets go on sale immediately on SouthernMissTickets.com. Tickets are $20 for courtside and floor seats, $15 for chairbacks, $10 for adult general admission, and $5 for youth and student general admission.
