- Southern Miss continues to pick up accolades for its play this year as LaShay Page
and Neil Watson
picked up Second Team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District honors.
Watson led the Golden Eagles this year with 12.3 points and 4.4 assists, good for 15th and second in the league, respectively. He is also second in C-USA in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.1) and third in free throw percentage (.843).
The Kansas City, Kan., native has scored in double-figures in 23 games. His 156 free throws rank third on the sophomore list and sixth on the school single-season list. His 84.3 free throw percentage is 10th in a season at USM. His 151 assists set a new sophomore single-season record, and his 39 three-pointers are third among all sophomores.
Page was second on the team with 11.6 points. He was third in C-USA in three-pointers made (2.3), eighth in three-point field goal percentage (.352) and first in minutes (36.8). The Dillon, S.C., native scored a career-high 30 points at Colorado State, where he connected on eight three-pointers, third most in school history.
Earlier this year, Page became 10th Golden Eagle with 100 career three-pointers. His 75 threes this year are the seventh most in a season all-time, and his 108 career three-pointers currently place him ninth all-time.
The first team is comprised by Memphis' Will Barton, UAB's Cameron Moore, DeAndre Kane of Marshall, Tulsa's Jordan Clarkson and Keith Clanton of UCF.
Page and Watson are joined on the second team by Rice's Arsalan Kazemi, Miguel Paul of East Carolina and SMU's Robert Nyakundi.
