HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss junior forward Gary Flowers earned his third honor of the week, as he was named to the GMC Sierra Conference USA All-Tournament Team.
Flowers becomes the first Golden Eagle to be named to the team in the history of the event. He was also named All-Conference by both the league and Sporting News.
The Dallas, Texas native recorded double-doubles in all three games, averaging 18.3 points, 11.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks. His 55 points were the most ever scored by a Southern Miss player in a single tournament, as well as his 35 rebounds and seven blocks.
Joining Flowers on the all-tournament team were Houston's Kelvin Lewis, who was the most valuable player, and teammate Aubrey Coleman, as well as UTEP's Randy Culpepper and Arnett Moultrie.
Southern Miss now waits to see whether it will play in the College Basketball Invitational or College Insiders Postseason Tournament, to be announced tomorrow.
