HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss junior Jeremy Wise earned Third Team All-Conference USA honors in a vote by the league's 12 coaches and various media, announced today by the league office in Irving, Texas.

It is the junior's third straight all-conference selection. He earned second team honors the last two years.

Wise led the Golden Eagles this season with 16.2 points and 4.7 assists, en route to placing eighth on the junior scoring list. His 486 points give him 1,644 for his career, good for sixth all-time in school history.

The Jackson, Miss. native is one of three players to start all 30 games for the Golden Eagles this season, and has scored in double-figures in 26 of 30 games, including 12 straight. He has also scored 20-plus points in eight games, including a season-high 28 against South Alabama on December 2.

Wise currently ranks fourth in the conference in both free throw percentage and assists, as well as fifth in minutes and eighth in scoring.

Houston's Aubrey Coleman and Memphis' Tyreke Evans were named to the first team. Joining them are Stefon Jackson of UTEP, Tulsa's Jerome Jordan and Jermaine Taylor of UCF.

On the second team was Memphis' Antonio Anderson and Robert Dozier, UAB's Paul Delaney III and Robert Vaden, and Ben Uzoh of Tulsa.

Joining Wise on the third team was Randy Culpepper of UTEP, Markel Humphrey of Marshall, UAB's Lawrence Kinnard and Houston's Kelvin Lewis.

Southern Miss, which earned the 11th seed, opens play at the Conference USA Tournament Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles will face 6th-seeded UCF. The game can be heard on the Southern Miss/ISP network.
