HATTIESBURG, Miss. -The Southern Miss men's basketball team will finish off the 2008-09 regular season this Saturday, March 7, when it hosts UTEP in a nationally-televised game on CBS College Sports. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT.

Before the game, Southern Miss will honor seniors Courtney Beasley and Craig Craft.

Southern Miss and UTEP will meet for the 13th time, with the Miners holding an 8-4 advantage. In Hattiesburg, Southern Miss owns a 3-1 record. Earlier this year, UTEP defeated the Golden Eagles, 87-75, in El Paso.

Southern Miss enters Saturday night's game with a 14-15 record, 4-11 in C-USA. The Golden Eagles have lost their last four and nine of their last 10 games after falling 67-65, at SMU, Wednesday night.

Junior guard Jeremy Wise led all scorers with 26 points. Courtney Beasley scored 16 points and added five assists, while R.L. Horton contributed 10 points.

Wise is eighth in the conference with 16.2 points per game, while being fourth in the conference with 4.66 assists. Beasley is 14th with 14.4 points and 10th with 6.8 rebounds. Horton is adding 12.7 points and Craig Craft is contributing 10.8 points and 5.5 rebounds.

The Golden Eagles are averaging 66.1 points per game, while allowing 66.4. Southern Miss is hitting 72.4-percent of its free throws and grabbing 33.8 rebounds. USM is currently fourth in the country in turnovers per game, committing just 10.0.

UTEP enters tonight's game with an 18-11 record, 9-6 in conference play. The Miners have won five of their last seven after defeating UAB, 70-52, Wednesday night.

UTEP was led by senior guard Stefon Jackson with a game-high 30 points, while also contributing four rebounds and four assists. Sophomore guard Julyan Stone scored 12 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and senior forward Tavaris Watts added 10 points and seven boards.

Jackson is second in Conference USA with 23.5 points. Sophomore guard Randy Culpepper is sixth in the league with 17.2 points. Freshman forward Arnett Moultrie is fifth in the conference, pulling down 7.8 rebounds per game. Stone is second with 6.21 assists.

As a team, the Miners are shooting 41.6-percent while allowing its opponents to shoot 42.6-percent from the field. UTEP is second in the league in rebounding, pulling down 38.1 rebounds a game. It is also third in scoring, with 75.0 points per game.

Head Coach Tony Barbee is in his third season at the helm of the UTEP men's basketball program. He has compiled a 51-42 (.548) record during his tenure as head coach.

Southern Miss heads to Memphis, Tenn. to take part in the Conference USA Tournament at FedExForum, Mar. 1-14. The Golden Eagles open play on Wednesday, time and opponent to be determined.
