Eagles Back On The Road, At UALR
Hattiesburg, Miss. - Southern Miss plays its next-to-last road game of the regular season Feb. 19, when the Golden Eagles visit Arkansas-Little Rock for a non-conference game, against a Trojan team that is coming off 61-58 weekend loss at Louisiana-Lafayette.

The Trojans still show a 16-9 overall record and are 7-6 in the Sun Belt Conference race. UALR started the season with a 7-2 run, and later added six-game win streak to improve to 13-3 in early January. The Trojans have beaten Saint Louis (61-58), Austin Peay (75-61), Colorado State (88-79), and Arkansas State twice (78-58, 65-63), among others.

Southern Miss is fresh from a one-sided, 89-37 loss at nationally-ranked Cincinnati. The Golden Eagles currently are 7-16, and have lost 13 of their last 15 games.

Senior forward Elvin Mims continues to lead the Golden Eagles at 18.0 points a game, as well as in rebounding at 7.4 grabs a game. Clement Carter is the only other Golden Eagle in double figures, at 10.2 points a game.

Southern Miss hit just 16-of-66 (.242), field goals in the Cincinnati game, including just five-of-29 (.172) in a second half in which the Golden Eagles scored just 12 points. The Eagles are shooting just .395 as a team, while the combined opposition is shooting .434. Southern Miss is averaging 60.3 points a game, while giving up 65.9 a game. Last season, the Eagles gave up 62.5 points a game, just over three points a game less than this season, but also scored 70.2 points a game. Also last season, the Eagles shot .434 from the field, compared to .395 this season.

UALR averages 75.0 points a game and has three players in double figures. Sophomore forward Nick Zachery leads that group at 16.3 points a game. Junior Mark Green and junior guard Jibrahn Ike are at 10.8 and 10.7 respectively.

Following the UALR game, Southern Miss will have just three regular season games remaining, at UAB, Feb. 26, and at home against TCU, Feb. 23, and Mar. 2, against South Florida.
