HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss men's basketball player Courtney Beasley was named Conference USA Player of the Week in a vote by the media.

It is Beasley's first career Player of the Week honor, and the first honor for Southern Miss since 2007.

Beasley averaged 27.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in helping Southern Miss to a 1-1 record this week. Southern Miss defeated Marshall, 84-79, before falling at UTEP, 87-75.

In the victory over Marshall, Beasley scored what was a season-high 24 points, while shooting 64.3-percent from the field and 6-of-7 from the line with four rebounds.
