Southern Miss head men's basketball coach Larry Eustachy will return to Hattiesburg tonight after taking a few days to be with his mother, Helen, who is battling cancer.
Eustachy, in his fourth season at the helm of the Golden Eagles, left Wednesday morning to be with his mother in California. She has been battling cancer for some time, and her condition took a turn for the worse.
Eustachy will return in time for practice on Friday and will coach the team in Saturday's game against Tulane, at Reed Green Coliseum at 4:00 p.m. (CT). He will then return to California Sunday morning to be with his family.
Following Saturday's game, Southern Miss will head to Birmingham, Ala., to face UAB on Wednesday, January 16, at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on CSS.
