Southern Miss Ticket Office Tests
Student Cardswipe System for Athletic Events
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss Ticket Office has announced that it is testing a cardswipe system for student admission to campus athletic events.
?We?re excited about the possibilities that a cardswipe program offers us,? noted Manager of Ticket Operations, Terry Cooksey. ?We?ve wanted to improve on the antiquated student sticker system for awhile. The cardswipe program allows the athletic event management and marketing staffs better tracking of the students actually attending events. This can be used in developing current student marketing plans and promotions, as well as helping identify the alumni ticket purchasers of the future. The program has potential applications for a number of our other clients as well.?
Undergraduate students enrolled for 12-or-more hours and graduate students enrolled for nine-or-more hours are assessed an activity fee that makes them eligible for free admission to all home regular season athletic events.
The cardswipe system mirrors that used at a number of other campus activities and facilities such as the Payne Center and will be tested for all spring athletic events including men?s and women?s basketball, baseball, and softball. Stickers will not be issued for the 2002 spring semester. A determination regarding the full implementation of a cardswipe program will then be made during the summer months.
?We did some limited testing during the fall semester, and I?ve been very impressed with what I?ve seen of the program thus far,? noted Cooksey. ?The campus OTR staff has been very helpful in developing the program and ironing out the various bugs involved in implementing the system.?
