BILOXI, Miss. (AP)--R. L. Horton scored 17 points and Andre Stephens added 14 points and eight rebounds to lead Southern Miss to a 69-49 win over Spring Hill on Monday night.
The Badgers, an NAIA Division I school that counted the game as an exhibition, scored the first two points of the game in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Classic, then never led again. The Golden Eagles have now won 15 straight against Spring Hill.
Southern Miss (7-4) used an 8-0 run to pull away in the first half and led 31-24 at the break.
The Badgers made only 17 of 52 shots (32.7 percent) compared to 27 of 60 for the Golden Eagles (45 percent), who shot 2-of-12 from beyond the arc.
Jeremy Price paced Spring Hill with 20 points, while Chris Dees Jr. had 10 points and Owen McNally grabbed 12 rebounds.
