Golden Eagles Now Turn Attention To Home Game Against New Orleans On Saturday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The Southern Miss men's basketball team struggled from the field and dropped a 77-35 decision to host Arkansas, Wednesday, at Bud Walton Arena, here in Fayetteville, Ark.
The Golden Eagles fell to 1-4 on the season, dropping their fourth in a row, while the Razorbacks improved to 4-2 overall.
The game was tied, 11-11, with 12:01 remaining in the first half, but Arkansas went on a 28-10 run to head into the break up 39-21.
For Southern Miss, Shaun Simpson had 11 points and 10 rebounds, registering the first double-double for the Golden Eagles this season. Courtney Beasley added 10 points, while Kendaris Pelton chipped in with six. Craig Craft, who along with Pelton each made their first start of the season, finished with five, and Kyle Lamonte added three.
Ronnie Brewer scored 16 points, 15 in the first half, to lead four Arkansas players in double figures. Darian Townes and Jonathon Modica each had 14, and Vincent Hunter added 10 points.
Southern Miss now returns home to host the University of New Orleans in a non-conference game at Reed Green Coliseum on Saturday. Tip-off time for the contest is set for 4 p.m.
