General Notes

  • Southern Miss advances to face either Tulsa or Marshall in Friday's first quarterfinal (3 p.m. CT on CBS Sports Network)
  • Southern Miss has now won eight straight in the series and lead 13-7 overall
  • After having one tie and one lead in the first half, there were eight ties and 14 lead changes in the second half and overtime

Southern Miss Notes

  • Southern Miss has won at least one tournament game in each of the past seven years and advance to the semifinals of the C-USA Tournament for the fifth time. The Golden Eagles are seeking their first championship game appearance
  • This was the fifth overtime game of the season for Southern Miss, which is a new school record
  • The Golden Eagles had six players finish in double figure scoring, the first time that has happened since Jan. 26, 2011 vs. East Carolina. Junior forward Jonathan Mills led the way with 16
  • The six steals by sophomore guard Neil Watson are a new career-high and the most ever by a Golden Eagle in a CUSA Tournament game
  • The 81 points scored by Southern Miss was its highest total since a 93-48 win over Belhaven on Dec. 27

East Carolina Notes

  • East Carolina tied the all-time C-USA Tournament record for 3-point field goals made with 15
  • Junior guard Miguel Paul topped the 20 point mark for the ninth time this season, scoring a career-high 28 points. He also dished out a career-high 12 assists, which is a new C-USA Tournament single-game record
  • Senior forward Darrius Morrow, who averages 14.0 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, was held scoreless and grabbed just two rebounds before fouling out in the final minute. He was also held scoreless vs. Charlotte on Dec. 3
