Yuji Katsuta begins his seventh season as the trainer for the Golden Eagle men's basketball program.
Prior to coming to Southern Miss, Yatsuta was the trainer for the New Orleans abseball and men's and women's swimming and diving teams. While at UNO, the baseball team earned a trip to the 2008 NCAA baseball regionals.
Prior to his appointment at UNO, Katsuta served a year-long athletic training internship with the NFL's Carolina Panthers during the 2007 season.
Before spending a year with the Panthers, Katsuta spent two years as a graduate assistant at the University of Mississippi where he worked with the men's tennis and men's and women's golf teams. While at Ole Miss, the men's tennis team made back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
The 2005 Fresno State graduate served as a student assistant in the athletic training office from 2003-05.
A native of Tokyo, Japan, Katsuta earned his bachelor's degree in sports medicine from Fresno State in May of 2005 and completed his master's degree in science/exercise science from Ole Miss in May of 2007. Katsuta is a National Certified Athletic Trainer and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Southeast Athletic Trainers Association, Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association and is certified in CPR by the American Heart Association.
