Baseball Adds Sixth Signee of Early Signing Period
IF/OF Will Watson of Monroe, La., set to join the Golden Eagles in 2014.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss baseball coach Scott Berry has announced the signing of infielder/outfielder Will Watson (Monroe, La.), Friday, for the 2014 season.
Watson becomes the sixth signee of the early period for the Golden Eagles and the second infielder/outfielder.
"Will is the second player that we have been able to sign from the Monroe, La., area and we look forward to him coming in to compete for a spot in the 2014 season," said Berry. "He possesses the necessary skills both on and off the field that we look forward to having in our program."
The 6-foot-2, 180 lbs., third baseman/outfielder plays his senior campaign this spring at Neville High School.
Last season, Watson batted .513 with 10 home runs and 43 runs batted in as Neville reached the state semifinals in Class 4A. He earned first-team all-district and all-Northeast honors, while also being named first-team All-State.
Off the field, he holds membership in Renaissance academic club, the Key Club, National Honor Society and Young Life.
The Golden Eagles have signed infielder/outfielder Dylan Burdeaux (West Monroe, La./West Monroe HS), along with right-handed pitchers Dustin Berrong (Ft. Walton Beach, Fla./Choctawhatchee HS), Cooper Jones (Pensacola, Fla./Pensacola Catholic) Ryan Milton (Albany, La./Jones County JC) and Christian Talley (Diamondhead, Miss./Pearl River CC).
