'Catching up with Fowler' Blog
Follow Golden Eagle senior Chase Fowler of Cumming, Ga., as he and his baseball teammates go through individual workouts and then fall practice as they work on their quest to get back to the NCAA Tournament. Chase will write share his thoughts on Southern Miss baseball and other happenings each Thursday during the fall semester.

This is it. The fall is over. We have put in a lot of hard work as a team and we cannot wait to see it pay off. This is the first time in my four years here that I have felt like all 35 players came to the field every day to get better and to move one step closer to Omaha.

I cannot believe I just participated in my last fall as a Golden Eagle. It feels like yesterday that I was strapping up for my first fall practice as a freshman. I guess time really does fly when you are having fun.

I am so excited for the 2013 season. It cannot get here soon enough. We have put in so much work this fall in the weight room and on the field that now we just play the waiting game. Now it is up to each player to keep working individually as we take these next two months off before we get back after it in January.

If you have been reading this blog all fall, you already know that this is one of the most determined teams I have ever seen. We won't be satisfied until we get to where we want to go and I truly believe that.

I want to thank all the seniors for their leadership this fall and for all my teammates responding to us, as well as the coaches. I want to thank Coach Stevens, our strength coach for killing us in the weight room. You will be missed and we appreciate your determination and work ethic.

I hope to see all of Golden Eagle nation out at The Pete in February when we take on Mizzou. It is the first time in history that we have opened up at home with an SEC opponent and we are expecting a huge crowd! Come out and "Pump the Pete!"

One Team. One Mission: Omaha!
