HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team completes its fall practice slate this Sunday when they hold the annual Black and Gold game at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
The Golden Eagles, which ended their intra-squad World Series earlier this week with the Gold squad taking a 3-1 series victory in the best-of-5 game set, will get one more chance to be evaluated by fourth-year coach Scott Berry as he continues to construct the roles for the roster heading into the 2013 season.
"We are trying to find the right roles for our players, both the position players and pitchers, heading into the spring," said Berry. "It is important to see our team react in these game-like situations and I was extremely pleased with the effort from both squads during our intra-squad World Series. The two teams really battled each other in every game and I see that happening again this Sunday as this will be the final time we to see our players perform under pressure this fall."
Admission is free for the contest. The Pink Ribbon Fund, which sponsored the team's World Series, will be accepting donations.
