2012 World Series Rosters
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team plays host to the Breast Cancer Awareness World Series in a best-of-five set beginning Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 3:15 p.m.
The squad will be split into the Black and Gold teams with the series taking place in its entirety at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field. Admission is free for each of the games, but donations will be accepted on behalf of the Pink Ribbon Fund (pinkribbonfund.org/601-450-PINK), an all-volunteer organization with 100 percent of all donations providing financial assistance for Pine Belt breast cancer patients.
Following the opening game, the series continues Thursday, Oct. 18, at 6 p.m., and then on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m.
"This is something new we are trying this year and we are excited to be able to have the Pink Ribbon Fund be a part of our fall world series," said fourth-year Southern Miss baseball coach Scott Berry. "We encourage Golden Eagle baseball fans to come out and get a glimpse of our 2013 squad, especially that Thursday game in which we are playing under the lights. We are hoping to put together some exciting things to go along with the game that evening."
The two teams will play if necessary games on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 3:15 p.m., and Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 3:15 p.m., should the series need to be extended because of neither team having captured three games.
