Golden Eagles in 2013 Summer Leagues
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss baseball player Bradley Roney has been chosen to represent the West Division in the 2013 Friendly's Cape Cod League All-Star game set for Saturday, July 27, at Red Wilson Field, the home of the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox.
The Wetumpka, Ala., native, who sees action as both a third baseman and a pitcher, has earned a spot as a reliever in the league's all-star contest as a member of the Wareham Gatemen.
Roney has appeared in 12 games on the mound over the summer and holds a 0-1 mark with a 1.80 earned run average. In 15 innings of work this summer, the right-handed hurler has 17 strikeouts and 10 walks, while allowing nine hits.
In two seasons with the Golden Eagles, Roney has put together a solid pitching ledger with a 3-1 overall record to go along with a 3.63 ERA and 18 career saves, which ranks fifth on the Golden Eagle career charts. Offensively, Roney has batted .250 with three home runs and 20 RBI in his two seasons with Southern Miss.
The 2013 Friendly's Cape League All-Star game will be played Saturday, July 27 at Red Wilson Field (home of the Y-D Red Sox). Tickets are available online at CapeCodBaseball.org and at all 10 Cape League fields. First pitch is at 4:30 p.m., and the game will be televised nationally on Fox College Sports.
