HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Cameron Giannini, a Southern Miss right-handed pitcher who will be a senior in 2014 for the Golden Eagles, has earned selection to the Northwoods League All-Star game as a member of the North squad.
In eight pitching assignments for the Mankato Moondogs, Giannini (Danville, Va.) holds a 5-1 record with one save during his summer season. After saving his first game in relief for the Moondogs, Giannini then has started in each of his last seven appearances and lasted at least five innings in six of those starts, including eight innings of two-hit, shutout baseball against Willmar on June 23 which included nine strikeouts.
Giannini has posted a 2.13 earned run average over 46 1/3 innings with 50 strikeouts and only 38 hits and 14 walks.
The Northwoods All-Star game is set to take place Tuesday, July 23, at 7:35 p.m. CT from Carson Park in Eau Claire, Wis.
The 6-foot-3, 234-lb., hurler holds a 4-4 mark with a 4.57 ERA over 30 games in two seasons for the Golden Eagles. He has 31 strikeouts and 22 walks over 43 1/3 career innings at Southern Miss.
