Southern Miss Baseball Offers Three More Camps This Summer

July 10, 2018

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball program will hold three more camps this summer at Pete Taylor Park, including a one-week session for kids (July 16-19), a Summer Showcase (July 21) and the third annual Father-Son Camp (Aug. 25).

Those camps include:

Summer Kid's Camps
The week-long session is for kids entering grades K-8th and slated to take place July 16-19. Campers will be divided into groups by age to ensure quality and safety. These camps will cover fundamentals such as hitting, base running, defensive techniques, primary and secondary positions. The camp will be limited to the first 100 applicants. Each camper will receive a USM Camp T-shirt and insurance. Cost for each four-day camp is $165. Times for each day will begin with sign-in taking place from 8:15-9 a.m., with the conclusion of each day at 12 noon.

Summer Showcase Camp
This camp is designed to allow current high school freshman through junior college sophomore (junior college freshman must be academic qualifier) baseball players
the skills needed to compete at the next level. Participants will be given a chance to have their skills toned by college coaches and receive specific instruction to their defensive position, speed training to improve their 60 time, as well as hitting at Pete Taylor Park. Any pitcher who is a dual player will be able to participate at both positions. The camp is set to take place July 21 and registration begins at 11 a.m. The camp starts at 12:00 noon and end when all camp participants have completed the session. Lunch will not be provided. The camp will be limited to the first 100 applicants. Cost is $155 and includes insurance, instruction and a camp T-shirt.

Father/Son Camp
This camp, open to children kindergarten through 8th grade, will provide an outstanding bonding opportunity for the parent and child while also learning the game of baseball and developing an understanding of key fundamentals in maximizing their child’s full potential. Teaching areas will include pitching, hitting, catching, infield and outfield play. The goal of this one-day camp is to provide answers and training solutions to the questions that are most often asked by today’s fathers and youth league players.
The camps takes place Aug. 25 from 1-5 p.m., with check-in at 12:15 p.m. The cost of the camp is $100 for both child and parent and an additional $25 for each additional child. The fee includes a free t-shirt for all campers.
