HATTIESBURG, Miss. -
The Southern Miss baseball program has two types of summer camps remaining and will be held next week, that includes a Kids Camp, Monday July 14 through Thursday July 17, and a Summer Showcase camp, Saturday, July 19. The following is information on each of these camps:
Summer Kids Camps (July 14-17)
The four-day session is for kids entering grades 1st through 7th. Campers will be divided into groups by age to ensure quality and safety. These camps will cover fundamentals such as hitting, base running, defensive techniques, primary and secondary positions. The camp will be limited to the first 100 applicants. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt and insurance. Cost for the four-day camp is $165. Times for each day will begin with sign-in taking place from 8:15-9 a.m., with the conclusion of each day at 12 noon.
Summer Showcase Camp (July 19)
The Summer Showcase Camp is designed to allow current high school freshman through junior college sophomore (JUCO freshmen must be an academic qualifier) baseball players the chance to showcase their abilities and receive instruction from current Southern Miss coaches, various junior college coaches and other four-year institutions. The camp registration begins at 11 a.m. The camp starts at 12 noon and end when all camp participants have completed the session. The itinerary will include instruction specific to their defensive position, improving 60-yard dash times, and hitting. Pitchers will be allowed to participate at both positions. Cost is $155 and includes insurance, instruction and a camp T-shirt.
