HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss senior second baseman Isaac Rodriguez collected American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-South Region Second-Team honors in an announcement by the organization this week.

Rodriguez, who led Conference USA in hitting with a .348 average, started and played in 56 of the Golden Eagles' 57 games this spring. He tallied a team-best 15 doubles, two home runs and added 30 runs batted in, while also producing the team's longest hitting streak of 21 games in two seasons down the stretch.

A native of Weston, Fla., Rodriguez helped lead the Golden Eagles to their second C-USA regular season title in the last three years, as well as to the league's postseason championship game before bowing out to Rice in extra innings.

The first-team All-Conference USA performer also tied for the league lead in on-base percentage at .441, along with being tied for eighth in the league in both doubles and hit by pitches (12), while also ranking ninth in slugging percentage (.453).

Rodriguez also added a stellar season defensively, registering a .983 fielding percentage in committing just five errors in 300 fielding chances.

He is the first Golden Eagle to be named to the ABCA All-South Region team since Tyler Koelling earned a second-team nod in the outfield following the 2011 season.
