All Three Players Chosen in MLB Draft Signs
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - All three Southern Miss right-handed pitchers, Cody Carroll, Ryan Milton and James McMahon, who were picked earlier this month in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, have each signed with their respective organization.
Carroll was taken in the 22nd round by the New York Yankees (663rd pick), while Milton got taken in the 23rd round (700th pick) by the Detroit Tigers. Neither player has been assigned yet to their first professional club.
As for McMahon, taken in the 24th round by the Colorado Rockies (707th pick), he will begin his pro career in the Rookie Pioneer League for the Grand Junction (Colo.) Rockies, whose season opens tonight in Idaho Falls, Idaho (Kansas City Royals affiliate). McMahon will play with former Golden Eagle teammate Christian Talley, who signed a free-agent contract with the Rockies earlier this week and was also assigned to that club.
