HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss says goodbye to Pete Taylor Park for another regular season when the Golden Eagles play host to New Orleans in the final scheduled home tilt of the campaign, Tuesday, at 6 p.m.

The Golden Eagles (36-14) look to sweep the season series over the Privateers (24-28), after winning 9-7 in the Crescent City back in February. The visitors used a two-run sixth inning to overcome a 5-4 deficit to post the come-from-behind victory.

Southern Miss has won the last five games in the series and hold a 56-49 overall advantage between the two clubs dating back to the 1970 season.

Junior right-hander Jarod Wright will get the start for the Golden Eagles, making his third start of the season. Wright has posted a 3-1 record this season with a 5.27 earned run average. The Arlington, Tenn., product has fanned 17 and walked eight over 27 1/3 innings of work. UNO was still undecided on a starter.

Five Golden Eagles continue hit over .300 this season with junior Luke Reynolds, who was named one of five finalists along with Nick Sandlin for the C Spire Ferriss Trophy, leads the team with a .384 batting with a team-high tying 13 home runs and 52 RBI. Reynolds’ on-base percentage is tops in the league at .538.

Other Golden Eagles over the .300 mark includes Matt Wallner (.352), Hunter Slater (.310), Matthew Guidry (.308) and Mason Irby (.302).

Following the UNO contest, Southern Miss travels to Beckley, W.Va., to face Marshall in the final C-USA league series, which starts Thursday with a 5:30 p.m., CT first pitch. One win, or a loss each by both Louisiana Tech and Florida Atlantic, and the Golden Eagles win their second consecutive regular-season league crown and fifth overall.
