HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team travels to Oxford, Wednesday, to face nationally ranked Ole Miss in the school's final regular season non-conference game this spring. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m., at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.

The Golden Eagles (26-19) play their fifth-straight contest against a nationally ranked opponent, going 2-2 in those games. Southern Miss defeated Ole Miss in the only other meeting at Trustmark Park in Pearl, 5-3, last month, giving the squad its third-straight victory over the Rebels. In 2014, the Golden Eagles are 4-6 against foes from the Southeastern Conference.

The Rebels (33-12) rank as high as No. 10 nationally in the Collegiate Baseball poll.

In the first meeting between the two clubs, Austin Roussel collected the go-ahead two-run single in the sixth and the junior from Hester, La., continued to enjoy his success against the Eagles' in-state rival, having gone 11-for-12 at the plate for a .917 batting average and two RBI in four career games.

Another Golden Eagle, junior Mason Robbins, has enjoyed a surge in his batting average, after collecting a .533 week (8-for-14) to earn the Conference USA Hitter of the Week honors. His solid week included a 4-for-4 performance at Alabama, that included is fourth home run of the year, and a pair of two hit contests against Rice.

Junior Tim Lynch continues to lead the Golden Eagles in hitting this spring with a .294 batting average with eight doubles, a home run and 27 RBI. He is closely followed by junior Matt Durst who is hitting .293 with team-highs of five home runs and 32 RBI. Durst drove in six runs over the weekend against the Owls, including a go-ahead grand slam in the series finale to help get the Golden Eagles a victory in that contest.

Southern Miss looks to send senior right-hander Cameron Giannini to the mound against the Rebels. Giannini has posted a 3-2 record this season with a 4.13 earned run average. The Danville, Va., product will be making his 11th start of the campaign and has fanned 39 over 52 1/3 innings.

The Rebels will counter with freshman Evan Anderson, who has collected a 1-0 record with a 2.35 ERA.

Following the Ole Miss contest, the Golden Eagles travel to New Orleans this weekend to face C-USA foe Tulane in a three-game series. This will be the final series between the two schools as league members. Game times are 6:30 p.m., on Friday, 2 p.m., on Saturday and 1 p.m., on Sunday.
