HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team returns home to play host to Louisiana Tech in a three-game Conference USA series at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field and the program will hold its annual Military Appreciation Weekend in conjunction with the series.
There will be three single contests starting with a 6 p.m., game on Friday, followed by a 4 p.m., tilt on Saturday and the series finale slated for Sunday at 1 p.m. Military personnel who show their issued ID can gain admission each day for $5 and those tickets can be purchased at the Pete Taylor Park Box Office.
The weekend's festivities begin with fireworks following the Friday night contest at The Pete.
Then, on Saturday, along with the Eagle Fest celebration on campus, the activities include a pre-game, on-field presentation for all active, retired and reserve members of the armed forces. In addition, the Southern Miss Army ROTC will present the colors while members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will showcase the flags from all branches of the Military. All men and women of the armed forces are invited to participate in this event and are asked to meet at the first base gate at 3:30 p.m.
Following Saturday's game, the Golden Eagle baseball team will be signing posters.
On Sunday, all kids will be able to run the bases following the contest.
