HATTIESBURG, Miss. – After completing a five-game road swing during the middle of the week, Southern Miss returns home to start a string of seven of the next eight contests at Pete Taylor Park beginning this weekend when they entertain Georgia Southern for a three-game series.

The two teams will play a 6 p.m., contest Friday which will also be Parrot Head Night at The Pete. Lloyd “Hurricane” Munn and the Forecasters will play prior to and following the game in The Roost, while fans will receive leis when entering the ballpark. The Golden Eagles will also wear paradise-themed jerseys for the game.

The series continues with a 2 p.m., contest Saturday and concludes with a 1 p.m., tilt Sunday. It will also mark the school’s Pack the Pete in Pink Weekend.

The Golden Eagles continue to be in the national rankings. This week, Southern Miss holds a No. 15 spot by Baseball America, while also sporting a No. 16 ranking by both and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association along with a No. 24 poll spot by Collegiate Baseball.

The recent road swing ended Wednesday with a 3-0 loss at Alabama. The Golden Eagles, which managed just two hits in that contest, look to get their offense going again.

The squad holds a .305 team batting average with six players with at least 25 at bats sporting at least a .300 mark at the plate.
