HATTIESBURG, Miss. -
One of the favorite nights during the baseball season returns Friday as it will be Parrot Head Night at Pete Taylor Park when Southern Miss meets Georgia Southern in the first of a non-conference three-game series. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
This will be the third time that this event has taken place at The Pete. After a successful debut seven seasons ago that saw the Golden Eagles defeat New Orleans 11-0 on April 15, 2011, the event was brought back last season.
Like those previous games, several things are planned for the game including the team wearing special edition Parrot Head jerseys.
Lloyd “Hurricane” Munn and the Forecasters, a Buffett-themed band, will perform in The Roost prior to and following the game. Fans will also be given leis as they enter the park.
The Golden Eagles and GSU will also play in a 2 p.m., game on Saturday and conclude the series with a 1 p.m., game on Sunday. The series is also the Pack the Pete in Pink weekend.
Tickets for the series, as well as season tickets, can be purchased by going online at SouthernMissTickets.com, by calling 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or by visiting the Pat Ferlise Ticket Office weekdays from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m. The Pete Taylor Park box office opens two hours prior to first pitch on game days.
