Baseball to Host First Responders Day on March 16

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team plans to host First Responders Day, Saturday, March 16, for its Central Arkansas contest. Game time is set for 1 p.m., at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
All First Responders, which includes fire department, police department and emergency service technician personnel, will be able to purchase $5 general admission tickets each for themselves and their family for that game. They may purchase these tickets by showing their ID card or by being in uniform. Tickets may be purchased at the Southern Miss Ticket Office in the Pat Ferlise Center weekdays from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m., prior to game day or at the Pete Taylor Park Box Office on the the day of the game.
The Department of Athletics also is asking all First Responders to meet at the field gate entrance on the first base side of Pete Taylor Park at 12:30 p.m., that day to take part in a special presentation prior to the National Anthem.
Southern Miss Chief of Police Bob Hopkins is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch that day as well.
Prior to the game that day, different type of first responder vehicles will be on display for fans to tour and interact with those individuals who operate them. The vehicles include a police patrol car, a AAA Ambulance, along with a rescue and ladder truck from the Hattiesburg Fire Department's Ladder No. 6. These vehicles will be located across the street from Pete Taylor Park in the Payne Center Lot from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
